Millington Road Nursery School Staff

Every permanent member of staff at Millington Road Nursery School is qualified and experienced; we have a long tradition of supporting continued professional development. We are proud of our long-standing team and the continuity that this provides for our children and families.

Richard Smith, Early Years Teacher status, PGCE without QTS,  MA (Education with Early Childhood, to be conferred July 2025) - Principal

Richard is a qualified early years teacher with over 10 years’ experience in Early Childhood Care and Education and combined Reception/nursery classes. He has recently completed his study towards an MA in Education with Early Childhood, with research into the outdoors of preschool and its connections with young children’s wonder and agency.

Richard will be one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads from January 2025.

Lorraine Smith, CACHE Level 3 In Childcare and education, Senior Early Years Practitioner
Lorraine is a named person in charge in the Principal’s absence and is also a Designated Safeguarding Lead.  She has worked in Early Years with all the age groups for over 20 years.

Zoë Ralinovski-Hoare, CACHE Level 4 For the Early Years Advanced Practitioner, Senior Early Years Practitioner

Zoë is also a named person in charge in the Principal’s absence. She has worked in the education sector for ten years and has experience across many age groups. Zoë is our Equalities Named Coordinator (ENCO) and our SENCO.

The team includes:

  • Elizabeth Sivell, NVQ Level 2
  • Fran Barba, BTEC Level 3 health and social care - Forest School Leader
  • Helen Chastney, N.N.E.B and Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Studies
  • Sarah Maskell, Forest School Leader and Early Years Level 3 trainee
  • Sylvia McPhail, N.N.E.B
  • Catherine Streather – Admissions and Administration

 

All members of staff hold enhanced DBS certificates and those working directly with children are first aid trained and hold child protection certificates.

Millington Road Nursery School Staff

Every permanent member of staff at Millington Road Nursery School is qualified and experienced; all holding appropriate early years qualifications. We are proud that our Nursery School does not have a high staff turnover so that most of our team has been here for many years. The Principal has worked at the Nursery School for over 15 years and most of the other staff have been here nearly as long. Two members of staff have been with Millington Road Nursery School even longer, one for 25 years. All members of staff hold enhanced DBS certificates and those working directly with children are trained in first aid for children and child protection

Mary Field, BA (hons) in early years, EYTS, N.N.E.B – Principal
Mary has been Principal of Millington Road Nursery School since 2004, managing the day-to-day running of the Nursery School; and is available to parents at the beginning and end of each day, Monday to Friday. Mary is the designated person for child protection and behaviour management and has Early Years Teacher Status and monitors staff development.

Lena Pimm, CACHE Level 3, NVQ Assessor, BA, MA, EYTS – Deputy Principal
Lena is Deputy Principal and has worked in the nursery since 2010 and also has Early Years Teacher Status. Lena is a nursery equality named co-ordinator and the lead practitioner for children’s profiles, planning and the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Lena is also a designated person for child protection and leads the Nursery School’s environment group with a small group of parents who meet regularly to ensure that Millington Road Nursery School remains as eco-friendly as possible.
